Work has started on a long-awaited new bowling alley in Weston-super-Mare.
The new attraction – the AllStars Sports Bowl – will open at the Dolphin Square development in the spring of next year.
The project is led by local entrepreneurs Pete and Sally Wallington.

The couple, born and raised in the city, already own a number of successful businesses in Weston, including the AllStars Sports Bar.
They also operate the AllStars sports bars in Bristol, Exeter and Taunton.
The old Dolphin Square bowling alley was demolished in 2013 as part of a major regeneration of the site.
The desire for a replacement lane was highlighted by locals in the Weston Wishes campaign, led by the North Somerset Council last year, asking residents what facilities they wanted in the city.
Pete and Sally say they were always determined to provide Weston with a much needed bowling alley after the last one was reduced to rubble.
Pete said: “I have a passionate belief that other Westonians will welcome and support the much sought-after bowling alley, which will be a real asset to the city for tourists and residents alike.
“It’s easy to overthrow old seaside towns but with all the recent redevelopments it’s important to see that Weston has a lot to offer.
“Unfortunately, Covid has pushed back the original schedule, but as work has now started, we are confident that the AllStars Sports Bowl will be ready for spring 2022.”
The new 12-lane bowling alley will also include other attractions, including a karaoke room, restaurant and bar.
It will be located in the larger end unit of the Dolphin Square complex.
Work has started to drill two of the units to create a large area for the lane.
Pete added, “We’ve researched the most advanced technology to deliver the best, most exciting, and most immersive experience.
“There will be party rooms, VIP lanes, interactive darts, a karaoke room and much more.
“It will be a 21st century alley, designed for people to want to spend their time there even if they don’t want to bowling.
“A Facebook page will be published shortly with regular updates to keep everyone up to date on the progress of this exciting new venture and we look forward to welcoming everyone to the AllStars Sports Bowl in 2022.
“Weston will be our flagship product, with a sister site in Bridgwater opening at the end of 2022.”
North Somerset City Council’s Place Building and Economics executive member Mark Canniford said: “Bringing a bowling alley back to Weston town center was one of the top wishes during the council consultation on the creation of venues in 2019, so we’re excited to see that moving forward. “
The AllStars Sports Bowl will join Cineworld, Clip and Climb, Anytime Fitness and Nandos at the downtown Dolphin Square site.
